Athlete of the Year: WHS Junior Stella Alphas Alpine Skiing. In Alphas’ junior season she took first-place in the Mass Bay West Ski League’s Omega division for the third consecutive year. The two-time All-Scholastic took first place in the slalom and first overall at the MIAA state championship
WHS Freshman Jacey Hinton Swimming. A Dual County League All-Star, the rookie racked up wins this postseason as the Division 2 state champ in the 100 freestyle (51.10) and the 200 freestyle relay, as well as the North Sectional in the 200 free (1:51.04), the 100 fly (56.13), and the 200 and 400 free relays.
WHS Junior Dale Nickerson Diving. A three-time Dual County All-Star, the diving board belonged to Nickerson at Division 2 states and his winning score of 571.25 was the highest in either division. His winning score of 580.80 at the North Sectional was a school record.
400 FREESTYLE RELAY Girls Swimming
Sophomores Katheryn Milligan and Grazi Vezza, senior Mila Schowtka, and freshman Jacey Hinton came together to stake a defiant two-second victory (3:34.82) over eventual North Sectional winners Westford Academy, whom they’d tied in the 200 freestyle relay earlier. Senior Courtney Burrow replaced Hinton in the race at states, where the Wildcats finished second overall. Milligan holds three freshman relay records.
