This is a friendly reminder that guidance is offering the “PreACT” test on Saturday morning, March 16th. It is a practice test for the ACT which gives students a low-stress chance to try out this college admissions test option. This is NOT an official ACT and scores are only shared with counselors and students (not colleges). We strongly recommend that all sophomores take this test as it will be useful in determining which standardized tests (ACT vs SAT) may be best for individual students to take in the college application process. Juniors who might have focused on the SAT and want to try out the ACT are welcome to sign up. Please note that many current juniors have already taken this practice test last year.
The cost for this test is currently $20 and will increase to $25 starting on March 11th. The preferred method of registration and payment is through the “Online Payment Center” for Weston Public Schools found here: Weston Online Payment System. If you have enrolled students in programs at Weston Recreation, you may already have an account. If you don’t have an account, it will take a day or two to set you up with a PIN. Please make sure your student’s grade level is up to date in the online payment system. (Any questions about Online Payment can be directed to Ben Wilkins at Case House or 781-786-5236). Checks made payable to “Town of Weston” will also be accepted in the guidance office.
The test will be held at the high school. Check-in begins at 7:30am and the test will begin promptly at 7:45am. Students who arrive late will not be allowed to take the test. Students will need to bring #2 pencils and a calculator. We WILL NOT provide calculators or batteries. Upon arrival, students will enter through the main entrance to check in to find out their assigned room. Students generally finish between 11:15am and 11:30am.
