Girl Up is United Nations Foundation nonprofit that supports programs for adolescent girls in developing countries (Guatemala, Malawi, Uganda, Ethiopia, Liberia, and India) in the areas of education, health, and safety. Girl Up has over 2,000 Girl Up clubs in 98 countries. Some of its initiatives include providing bicycles to girls in rural Guatemala and Malawi for traveling safely to and from school, constructing new schools and classrooms for refugee children in Uganda, and providing educational scholarships and solar lanterns for nighttime studying to girls in Ethiopia.
The Girl Up Weston Club is hosting a cycling class fundraiser at B/SPOKE in Wellesley on Saturday, 12/14 from 12:30-1:30 pm, and 100% of proceeds will go to Girl Up. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/girl-up-charity-bspoke-ride-tickets-79462896663?aff=affiliate1
In addition, we are fundraising at the Wellesley CPK (Linden Square) on the same date (12/14), at which 20% of any purchase will go toward Girl Up. Feel free to stop by with family and friends, or for lunch following the B/SPOKE class! Just show them the attached flyer (valid all day) on your phone, or say you are here for the Girl Up fundraiser. For any questions, reach out to co-presidents Jackie Liu (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Mimi Gotbetter (email@example.com)!
