June Academy 2020 Information

February 14, 2020

Dear Weston Students and Parents/Guardians,

June Academy is right around the corner and we are excited for what’s in store! For those who are new to Weston High School, June Academy is an 8-day educational experience built into the end of the academic year. It is a series of seminar courses different from the traditional curriculum. With over 60 courses to choose from, we hope that there is something for everyone with varied interests, passions, and learning styles. Current juniors, sophomores and freshmen are required to participate in June Academy. All students are required to attend, and school attendance policy will be strictly enforced. The following is the tentative schedule barring any additional snow days, so please plan accordingly:

Session 1: June 12th – 17th
Session 2: June 18th – 23rd (Please note the last day of Session 2 is an early dismissal at 11:30AM)

Please review the June Academy Attendance/Grading Policy here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tnNSgETxhRTpzFbnmXEyjSb857KFxPTo/view?usp=sharing

The official course catalogue and course selection guidelines will be made available to students after February break. The course selection process will begin in early March. More details to come!

Lastly, any students who have prior obligations during June Academy must submit a June Academy Exemption Form by Friday, March 20th at 3PM. Please see link below for more details. Exemption forms will be reviewed by the JA Committee.

June Academy is a robust educational experience for students and teachers that facilitates “learning for learning’s sake.” We hope that participation in these courses will spark a desire for students to be curious, learn new things, and ignite their own creativity. If you have any questions or run into any issues, please contact Ms. Leah Gordon (gordonl@weston.org) or Mr. Samson Luu (luus@weston.org).

We look forward to June!
June Academy Committee
