National History Day Results
This year, all 10th grade students taking Modern World History for honors credit wrote a research paper following National History Day submission entrance protocols.
The following students were judged by our history department to have the highest quality essays and were nominated for submission to the regional National History Day competition, representing WHS:
Jonathan Henry
Raneem Abu-Hasan
Reese Connelly
Julia Hohenberg
Alina Hooper
Hanna Wang
Melina McDonald
The regional National History Day competition was disrupted by COVID-19 and shifted to a virtual format, and the following students had their essays move on for consideration at the state of Massachusetts National History Day competition (also held online this year):
Reese Connelly
Julia Hohenberg
Alina Hooper
Hanna Wang
Melina McDonald
We received the exciting news that Weston High School student Hanna Wang had her paper selected for the “Best Project in the History of Art and Culture” award from the Massachusetts Historical Society. This is a very exciting and prestigious award for Hanna! Congratulations! And, thank you to Don Benson, Michi Kurata, and Monny Cochran for spearheading this project in our 10th grade modern world history classes. What an amazing outcome!
