WHS Students Placed in Academic World Quest Competition

Fellow Wildcats,
For the first time, we had a Weston High team entered in the World Affairs Council’s (this is a professional organization of folks who work in international relations) annual quiz bowl-like competition, World Quest, which was a 3.5 hour collaborative competition focused on economics, current events, and world geography.  There were 8 states in the regional competition yesterday and when the results were tabulated, Weston High cracked the top 3 among Massachusetts high schools, 2 points behind Boston Latin, and 1 point beyond Somerset-Berkeley.
This is exciting because they won a $500 prize for the school (the students have requested that the check be made out to the  Boston Weston METCO Parent Organization’s John Hudson scholarship, providing WHS METCO seniors with a scholarship upon graduation).  Also, the team advances on to the national competition, which will be held April 16-17, online.
The four team members are:
Max Wohlfeld
Katie Barlow
Ishika Bharath
Neil Malur

Dr. Kerry Dunne
