WHS Sophomore Wins Award for Recycling Project

Congrats to Max Tomczak, WHS Class of 2023, for winning a $500 Eco-Grant from the “Grades of Green” from California. Max received a second place award in a competition between about 600 students from the US and other countries and 81 teams that participated in this year’s Climate Solution campaign.
Max spearheaded the plastic bag recycling project for Weston, with assistance from members of Students for Environmental Action. This recycling project has now collected over 800 lbs of plastic bags and saved more than 2 tons of CO2. NexTrex Company will be sending a bench made of recycled plastic bags to be located on the high school campus.
Please note: you can continue to drop off plastic at Brothers Grocery store, but not at school locations.
