Hello Everyone,
My final email to you until next fall.
Morgan Rome won the Rising Stars javelin, with a throw of 128′ 8″, shattering the WHS school record by over 10 feet.
I also wanted to share with you a couple of other accomplishments as well. Our Boys Tennis team (picture below) won their 5th straight MIAA State Championship on Saturday beating Lynnfield 5-0 at MIT. This program is one of the top in the state. The team finished 14-1 on the regular season sweeping the DCL (aside from AB – lost 3-2) as well as Wellesley and Needham as non-league opponents. What an incredible season. By the way, on the boys side of the MIAA State Tennis Tournament – the Dual County League swept every division’s championship (AB-D1, CC-D2, Wayland D-3 and Weston-D4).
Also playing on Saturday was our Girls Lacrosse team. After a 14-6 regular season which saw the Cats beat Bedford (D-2 state finalist), AB, Boston Latin, CC and an overtime loss to LS, Weston took on Cohasset for the right to play for the state championship on Tuesday. Unfortunately, this amazing season came to an end in a 14-13 last minute loss. The team finished 17-7 on the year. This year was the best girls lacrosse team in the school’s history.
Lastly, this school year has been amazing and one of the very best in Weston Athletic history. 4 State Championships (Girls Indoor Track, Boys Swim/Dive, Girls Outdoor Track & Boys Tennis), 2 State Finalist (Golf lost on a tiebreaker and Cross Country by 3pts.), 2 Final Four appearances (Girls Lacrosse & Girls Tennis), 1 Elite 8 appearance (Boys Lacrosse), 3 – 3rd Place MIAA State finishes (Girls Swim/Dive, Boys Outdoor Track, Boys Nordic Ski), and 7 ADDITIONAL MIAA State Tournament qualifiers (Girls Volleyball, Field Hockey, Girls Soccer, Football, Boys Hockey, Girls Hockey & Girls Alpine Ski ) to go along with 13 Dual County League Foley Division Championships. Not bad for 02493!
Thank you for all your support this past year! Enjoy your summer.
Mike
