International Women’s Day Symposium
This year, Weston High School’s new Women’s Empowerment Club will host a symposium on Friday, March 16, 2018 during D block to celebrate International Women’s Day. We are excited to continue the conversations from last year’s event, with students leading the charge this year.
We will use 3rd block (lunch block from 10:05-11:10) to offer all students the opportunity to join faculty and student leaders who will facilitate discussions in small groups in the library. Also, we hope to use 4th block on this day to host a discussion panel comprised of men and women who will discuss combating gender inequality in the world outside of Weston High School.
This new group at WHS has been discussing issues, both local and global, in terms of the role of women in society. They are excited to investigate opportunities for guest speakers, field trips, fund raising for women’s groups and raising awareness of women’s issues at Weston High. We are still getting organized to be sure we have a club that makes an impact in our school and grows to include more members.
