Art at Woodland School
Woodland is a school that believes every student is an artist!
In art class we develop our visual vocabulary, expand our skills and fine tune our techniques. We know there are many ways to reach an artistic solution; therefore mistakes are apt to send our work in new directions, ones we couldn’t have imagined. We also know that art is a process that we must work through and we know we can’t give up on ourselves or each other.
Art classes meet for 30 minutes in Kindergarten, then for an hour beginning in first grade. We incorporate literature, world cultures, and famous artists into our units of study. Students experience a broad range of media, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and weaving.
