The Importance of WEEFC – Message from Superintendent Connolly
I am writing to bring your attention to a very important organization that continues to make a tremendous positive impact on all of Weston’s students, grades Pre-K through 12. Many of you are aware of the Weston Educational Enrichment Fund Committee, better known in town as WEEFC. This volunteer board, a subcommittee of the Weston School Committee, has been working on behalf of Weston’s students for more than thirty years.
By funding school enrichment programs through tax-deductible donations from the community, WEEFC offers a critical piece to the Weston educational experience that your children receive. Through tireless fundraising and generous grant allocations throughout the years, WEEFC has promoted and supported significant district-wide programming covering every facet of education at every level of teaching and learning. Enrichment programs include visiting authors, artists, and scientists; inspirational speakers; performances; field trips; innovative curriculum; cutting-edge technology; and J-Term (Middle School) and June Academy (High School) courses. Listed on the website are the grants WEEFC has funded in the past several years and to the over 35 grants WEEFC has funded thus far in the 2018-19 school year (link to “Your WEEFC Dollars At Work”).
In order for WEEFC to continue to provide our schools and students excellent enrichment programming, we depend on your continued annual support. For many reasons, however, contributions for WEEFC have seen a steady decline. In this current school year, engagement has fallen to less than 10% of families participating in the Annual End of Year Appeal. One way to support WEEFC is to attend the WEEFC Wingding, a celebratory event on Saturday, April 6, 2019, 7:00 – 11:00 p.m., at the Weston Golf Club where there will be dinner, dancing, and a silent auction. This is an opportunity to both contribute to WEEFC and enjoy time with other community members. You can purchase tickets and sponsorships using our online payment center (link to WEEFC Wingding tickets). If you are not interested in attending the event but still want to make a donation, please click here to donate.
Since WEEFC has a new logo this year, you may have overlooked the fundraising letter, which included a WEEFC magnet, sent out to all families. Information about WEEFC, including the STAR Awards to recognize faculty and staff members, can be found on the WEEFC page of the district website. Here is link to WEEFC homepage.
I strongly encourage you to consider WEEFC as you make your charitable donations. Thank you for your continued support of the Weston Public Schools.
Best,
Dr. Midge Connolly
