Letter From Principal Dimen
July, 25, 2022
Dear Woodland School Families,
I’m Jason Dimen (Dee-min), and it is an honor to be your Woodland School Principal!
By way of introduction, this coming school year will be my 21st in education. Prior to that, I worked in both the public and private sector in managerial positions. During the internet boom of the late 90’s, I was fortunate to be part of a startup that eventually merged with another company prior to the economic downturn. That allowed me to return home to New England and discover my passion as an educator. I began as a substitute teacher then taught elementary math, science, and engineering for many years before going into administration for the last 5 years. I have two grown, Filipino-American children. My eldest daughter is now a scientist in the biotech industry and my son is entering his sophomore year studying industrial engineering at the University of Miami. I’m most proud of them for being kind and courteous young adults. My advice to parents of young children is to enjoy and appreciate all that the younger years have to offer, from frustration to elation, because indeed it does go by too fast!
Preparations are underway for an exciting school year at Woodland! Our building and ground crews are hard at work getting our school ready to roll. Our teachers and staff are resting and rejuvenating to be at the top of their game in the months to come. We are entering a new era, one in which the worst of the pandemic is hopefully behind us and we can work with each other again in a personal way. Whether you’re from Weston or the Boston area, we invite everyone back into our schools. I look forward to getting to know each student from the time they arrive at Woodland. My staff and I will ensure that all of them will feel cared for and gain the qualities and confidence to be leaders equipped to meet any challenge in our ever changing world.
In August, you will begin to receive information about class placement and dates and times of upcoming events. Please note these events in your calendar as soon as I share them. You may also review updates and schedules on our school website.
I know that all of you are excited and some may be anxious about the upcoming year, and I will make every effort to meet you prior to and during the school year. I also invite you to contact me by phone or email at any time or by responding to this “Getting To Know My Family” form. Your responses are confidential, which I’ll only share with your child’s teachers with your permission. Thank you for your trust in us. I look forward to working together to make Weston the best place to raise and educate our children!
