WS PTO Update

Dear Woodland Families,

What a wonderful year it has been! It is hard to believe that we are in our last week of the 2022-23 school year. A great big thank you to all of our room parents that have played the critical role of keeping our families and our classrooms connected. And, a great big thank you to all of our families for the support you have shown our Woodland teachers and staff. This support has allowed us to shower our teachers and staff with lots of yummy meals that include breakfasts, lunches, Thanksgiving pies, cookie swaps, Teacher Appreciation Week donuts and stocking the lounge with delicious and healthy snacks to power them through their days. We have provided small pick-me-ups when we thought our teachers and staff needed it most and we designed and installed a new buddy bench for our students thanks to the generosity of the Mofenson Family. In addition, the Elementary PTO jointly coordinated successful group community events across all elementary schools that include Trunk or Treat, Global Diversity Fair, Kids Night Out to support Town Meeting, Kindergarten play dates and a bus driver appreciation breakfast. You have supported our school spirit stores and joined in fun picnics, fun days and appreciation gifts for our teachers and staff. Thank you to all of you for your time, generosity and contributions. You are a wonderful group of Woodland School families!

Next year Woodland School is lucky to have Emily Malenfant staying on as your PTO Chair and we welcome Alexi DiCosola as her Co-Chair. Emily has been an incredible partner this year and her leadership will guide you all through the 2023-24 year. If you would like to sign up to volunteer or to be a room parent for next year, please visit Woodland School in Membership Toolkit or email Emily Malenfant.

If you haven’t already and would like to still donate to the end of year gifts for all of those at Woodland School that are not direct classroom teachers, there is still time to do that. From the office staff to the facilities team to the specialists, we have an incredible group of people at Woodland School. We will be sending them off with a small thank you from our Woodland Community. If you would like to contribute, please venmo Meghan- Covington-1 whatever amount you are comfortable contributing.

Have a wonderful final week of school and a great summer vacation!

3rd Grade Clap Out:

Congratulations to all of the third graders that will be moving on to Field School.

At 10:30am on Friday, June 16th, 3rd grade parents are invited to participate in the 3rd grade clap out.  Parents will form a viewing and applause line under the awning in front of the school along the rockwall (facing the school), and down the ramp if needed.

At 10:35am, Grade 3 students will make their way through the K wing and exit out the K wing doors. Each Grade 3 student will then proceed to walk through the courtyard pathway with applause from the crowd. They will continue on to the G1/G3 entrance pathway and enter through the CCW/G3 entrance and back to their classroom for dismissal.

All lines will need to disperse by 10:50am for dismissal. Please park in the lot, the pool lot, or overflow parking at Country School. Please do not park in the traffic circle so dismissal can begin promptly at 11:00am that day. Please bring yourselves and your smiles, and perhaps a bubble wand for a festive send off. However, please do not bring noise makers or signs. Younger siblings must stay with their classrooms until dismissal. If rain is in the forecast that day, there will be alternate plans.

Weston PTO: Join or Renew Your Membership!

If you have a child in the Weston Public Schools, please join or renew your Weston PTO membership for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. The Weston PTO is an all-volunteer, parent-run, non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the education of our children and fostering community within our schools. We keep parents connected and engaged by facilitating a closer relationship between the schools and home and by serving as a communication link between the two. The annual membership fee is $75 per family. By purchasing it, you support the many ways the PTO engages with our community. Our annual budget is raised solely through membership dues and goes directly towards supporting the many wonderful events and activities our volunteers organize for all five district schools. If you have any questions, please contact Allison King and Theresa Nibi, Membership Chairs, at ptowestonmembership@gmail.com. Thank you for your support!

Save the Date for the WEEFC Fall Fundraiser – September 30! Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 30! The WEEFC Fall Fundraiser will be returning to the Field School field. There will be food trucks, great company, music, and an auction–all to benefit the Weston Public Schools. A ticket presale with early bird pricing will be coming in mid-August. Keep an eye on the WEEFC Instagram page for more information!

Have a great week,

Meghan Covington & Emily Malenfant
