Hello, Woodland School Families,

We hope you and your children are getting into the swing of this new school year.

It was great to have a chance to meet so many of you at the parent coffees with Mrs. Dickerson this past week, and for everyone to have a chance to get to know our new principal. We hope to have more of these over the course of the year.

There are several upcoming opportunities to get to know members of the Woodland community better, including our Woodland School Picnic (9/26), Back to School Night (10/3), and a Parents’ Night Out (new date: 10/18).

Two other updates:

  1. We have an open seat to serve on our Woodland School Council. Please see information below and if you are interested in running for School Council, please send a candidate statement to Emily Malenfant by 4pm ET on September 29, 2023.
  2. Our school spirit store is now open! Please visit here to get your gear in time for fall spirit days.

Have a great week!

Emily & Alexi

Woodland has 1 open seat for parent / guardian representatives for School Council. Each seat has a 2-year term.

This is an important and exciting opportunity for parents/guardians to get involved. Every public school in the state is required by law to have a School Council made up of various representatives, including elected parents / guardians. According to the Massachusetts Department of Education, school councils are to assist principals in adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards, identifying the educational needs of students attending the school, reviewing the annual school building budget, and formulating a school improvement plan.

School Council meetings are held on the first Monday of every month at 2:45pm.

If you are interested in running for School Council, please send a candidate statement to Emily Malenfant by 4 PM ET on September 29, 2023. School Council Elections will run from October 2nd to October 6th. There is no set format for a candidate statements, but please consider including the following information:

·  Your name

·  Where your children are in school

·  Other volunteer commitments

·  Other work experience

·  Other community involvements

·  Why you are interested in School Council and what contribution you can make
