Resources from the Attorney General’s Office
In recent months, the Attorney General’s Office has heard that parents and guardians with uncertain immigration status are worried about who will care for their young children if they are arrested or detained by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). To help families plan, they have created a simple fact sheet and a detailed guidance document that lay out options that parents and guardians have in case of such an emergency: Fact Sheet for Parents with Uncertain Immigration Status and Guide for Parents with Uncertain Immigration Status. It is the hope that by planning, parents will have some peace of mind that their children will be cared for in case of an emergency.
