Letter From Superintendent Connolly April 9, 2020

Dear Weston Community,

We have learned much over the past weeks since we first rolled out Weston School from Home. As many have said, we are in unprecedented times and as a result we must do our work as educators through a different lens. This health crisis we are all facing is impacting us medically, economically, socially, and psychologically. In such times, we must think first about caring for ourselves, others, and our community. This ethic of care is the foundation for our decision-making.

To that end, we need to continue to build and develop social emotional competencies in our children and youth as they are isolated at home with their families.  On Wednesday, April 15, 2020, and on alternate Wednesdays going forward, students will be focusing on social and emotional well-being and habits of mind as a way to continue to build skills that will support them during this difficult time and beyond. While students are doing this important work, teachers will be collaborating to share best practices, learn new technology tools, and plan curriculum and instruction for the upcoming weeks.

Once again, I want to thank you for all of you for your support in these challenging and ever-changing times.  Please continue to try and stay healthy and safe. Be well.

Best,

Dr. Midge Connolly
